2D/3D/4D Ultrasound FAQs
Q: What is an elective prenatal ultrasound?
We offer elective 2D, 3D and 4D prenatal ultrasounds to provide a positive bonding experience for the mother, father, family and friends with unborn baby. We feel that realistic surface images provide a connection between the parents and baby that can be beneficial to the whole family. This exam is NOT to assess any abnormalities with your baby. This is NOT a diagnostic exam. You will get that from your doctor’s office. A routine ultrasound exam must already have been performed to assess the gestational age of your baby and to evaluate for fetal abnormalities as well as basic components of fetal anatomy recommended for screening.
Q: How much water/fluids should I drink before my 2D/3D/4D ultrasound?
As an expectant mother, you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day as a general rule. This not only helps keep you and your baby hydrated and healthy, it also helps us capture good, vivid images of your baby. Ultrasound waves travel through fluid, and when more fluid surrounds your baby, the result is a much better picture or video. Fluid takes 2-4 days to reach the uterus, so for best results increase your water intake A FULL WEEK BEFORE your ultrasound.
Q: Should I have an empty or full bladder for the ultrasound?
If you are having a gender sonogram it is best to have a full bladder. For a 3D/4D ultrasound it is best to have something in your bladder, this lifts the baby out of the pelvis. If the baby is positioned facing the back, emptying your bladder can sometimes get the baby to turn. We can determine that during your visit.
Q: Does this take place of an ultrasound at my doctor’s office?
NO! As stated above. You must sign a waiver stating you are under prenatal care and provide your providers name and number. This ultrasound is for enjoyment and entertainment purposes only.
Q: Will you be able to tell me the sex of my baby?
Yes, in most cases we can determine the gender of your baby by 16 weeks. UPDATE: Precious Debut now offers an Early Gender Prediction DNA Test which can be performed as early as 9 weeks with results in as few as 1-2 days.
Q: Can I bring family and friends?
Absolutely! This is such a special time in your life. We want you to be able to share the unforgettable experience with those closest to you. Our facility allows space for you to bring up to 10 guests with you for comfort and enjoyment.
Q: How long does the 2D, 3D/4D ultrasound take?
Depending on the package you choose it generally takes 30 minutes. Allow an hour for us to print and edit your pictures and get your Debut package ready for you.
Q: Will I have to pay if I am not satisfied with the results?
Our best customer is a happy customer. We get more business from word of mouth than anything else. In the rare event the baby is in a position that does not allow for satisfactory pictures we will make arrangements to have you try again.
Drink Plenty of Water
As an expectant mother, you should drink half your body weight in ounces of water per day as a general rule. This not only helps keep you and your baby hydrated and healthy, it also helps us capture good, vivid images of your baby. Ultrasound waves travel through fluid, and when more fluid surrounds your baby, the result is a much better picture or video. Fluid takes 2-4 days to reach the uterus, so for best results increase your water intake A FULL WEEK BEFORE your ultrasound. Last minute water binging only makes you uncomfortable.
